Project M.A.L.E.S. Research - Faculty Affiliate
Project MALES (Mentoring to Achieve Latino Educational Success) is multi-faceted research and mentoring initiative based within the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement (DDCE) at the University of Texas at Austin. Project MALES encompasses three interrelated initiatives: an ongoing research agenda focused on understanding the experiences of Latino males across the education pipeline; a mentoring program that aims to cultivate an engaged support network for males of color at UT-Austin and across the Central Texas community; and, a newly launched statewide P-16 Consortium focused on the success of male students of color.
Prior to working at Iowa State University, Dr. Rodriguez worked closely with Executive Director, Dr. Victor Saenz, in collaboration with K-12, community colleges, and four-year institutions across the State of Texas, to conduct in-depth qualitative research and shape recommendations for policy and practice concerning the experiences of Latino male students. While with the Project, she coordinated and presented highly visible sessions at national, state, and local conferences and sponsored events to promote increased awareness of the project, initiatives, and uses of research findings.
Through their Faculty Affiliates Program, Project M.A.L.E.S. is committed to cultivating and amplifying the work of scholars whose research agenda is well aligned with the goals of their various research and mentoring initiatives. Current Faculty Affiliates include emerging and established scholars whose research focuses on the educational experiences of males of color. As a current faculty affiliate, Dr. Rodriguez and her research team have access to opportunities for collaboration on research projects and publications focused on Latino men in higher education.

Minority Male Community College Collaborative (M2C3) - Faculty Affiliate
The Minority Male Community College Collaborative (M2C3) was founded in 2011 at San Diego State University to support community colleges in building the capacity necessary for advancing outcomes for men of color. This work is done through institutional-level needs assessments, a national consortium on college men of color, and professional development support for community colleges. The mission of the collaborative is to develop knowledge and advance promising practices that enhance access, achievement and success among men who have been historically underrepresented and underserved in postsecondary education. As a current faculty affiliate, Dr. Rodriguez and her research team have access to opportunities for collaboration on research projects and publications focused on men of color in community colleges.
