Joining the Rodriguez Research Team
Working on a research team can be one of the most enriching experiences that a graduate student undertakes while completing a master's or doctoral degree. Engaging in research team activities can provide a context in which graduate students may build upon knowledge gained from both educational and professional experiences to forge new understandings about higher education. Depending on where you're at in the graduate school journey, participating in research can also be a way of exploring the research process, enhancing your research skills, or developing your scholar identity.
As a graduate student, I had the opportunity to work closely with faculty mentors and research teams. These experiences gave me the opportunities to build the knowledge, skills, and scholar networks that I utilize daily as a researcher. It is my goal to expand this network by preparing the next generation of higher education scholars. As a faculty member, I provide opportunities to selected master's and doctoral students to participate on my research team and engage in research centered upon my research agenda. Tasks vary for students based on skill-level, interests, and availability; time commitment to the research team is negotiated between student and supervisor.
Research team members not only engage in research activities, but they also participate in team-based professional development and community building. Continuing to grow intellectually as individual scholars and as a group is essential to the productivity and well-being of any research team. Team members are also strongly encouraged and supported in their endeavors to attend and present at local, regional, and/or national higher education conferences.
If you are a current graduate student at Texas A&M University (or other institution) interested in joining the team, please email me at [email protected] with a copy of your cv and a letter outlining your interests.
